We’re streaming!

I suppose we’re a little backwards. We took our time getting music out on streaming platforms, though I think that time served us well. We took a couple of years to work on live performances and, maybe more importantly, to write more songs. I’m proud of our first two songs on this little EP, Live at Lonesome Dave’s. These two songs are some of the earliest to come out of our writing circle with Greg Fraser. “Abilene” is very personal, and it was difficult at times to even sing, so to have it in a place where we can share it with everyone feels like a mile marker. “Lonely Alone,” a Greg offering to the circle, is such a beautiful song and one that I’m grateful to have a part in every time we get to perform it.

I remember when we first started talking about recording, Anthony said there was one person he would really want to work with, his friend and fellow musician David Harper, but that he wanted to wait until we had some songs good enough to take to him. With these songs (and a few more we’re recording now 😉), he felt like we finally had that. Getting to record at David Harper’s is still one of my favorite moments with the band. It’s one of those places you immediately feel peaceful in, and I love what we were able to capture in these sessions. In retrospect, these recordings sound honest to me, and I can hear a capsule of exactly where we were in this moment.

The album artwork for Live at Lonesome Dave’s is a picture of us in front of our barn taken by our friend and bass player, Steven Broome, who is a photographer in his real life (check out his site: Vintage Camera Digest). He took this photo as a favor, because we wanted to have some pictures to give to our family (we never take pictures, and we suspect they might resent us at times for it). It was not originally intended to be used for the band, but we kept coming back to it for this project. It just felt right because it shows us exactly as we were when we were writing and working on these songs. We hope you enjoy!
